Fortinet launches multi-threat security appliance

Bangalore, Nov 17, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) --
Fortinet, the leading provider of Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions, today announced launch of Fortigate-620B multi-threat security appliance that leverages accelerated performance and expanded network capabilities of Fortinet's highest-end systems.

With the introduction of security-specific ASIC network processor previously reserved for high-end products, Fortigate-620B sets new performance records with 16 Gpbs firewall and 12 Gpbs VPN throughput, a company statement said.

Expandable up to 24 ports, Fortigate-620B offers the highest port density in its class which is the key driver behind flexibility that companies can now have for internal network security segmentation.

The FortiGate-620B appliance integrates eight core security functions, including anti-virus, intrusion prevention (IPS, spyware prevention, anti-spam, web content filtering, traffic shaping, VPN and firewall).

Customers can choose to purchase Fortigate-620B appliances for all of these functionalities, or integrate just a few functions.

The FortiGate-620B represents a doubling in performance and port density over Fortinet's FortiGate-310B appliance, which was introduced this year and and designed for the mid-range segment.
