Fonality's trixbox Appliance Captures 2007 TMC Labs Innovation Award

LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)-- Fonality(R), a leading open source telephony company, announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) named the trixbox Appliance a 2007 TMC Labs Innovation Award winner. Created for trixbox and Asterisk resellers, as well as IT professionals, the trixbox Appliance is an enterprise class telephony appliance based on trixbox(R), the Asterisk(R)-based platform that has become synonymous with open source telephony and home to the largest Asterisk-based community.

The trixbox Appliance comes pre-loaded, tested, and configured with the latest version of trixbox and gives users the highest quality phone calls with VoIP, digital, and analog connectivity options. The Appliance requires minimal set-up and provides resellers with a quick and easy hardware solution to begin rapidly building phone systems. The trixbox Appliance costs $999 and comes standard with two 80 GB hard drives and a Pentium 4 CPU -- delivering the industry's best price performance value for a PBX.

The trixbox Appliance scales well beyond what most other Asterisk-based appliances can support. In addition to standard dual RAID disks in every box, the Appliance also includes an option to upgrade to dual power supplies and capacity for up to 48 analog lines. The Appliance is aimed at businesses with five to 500 employees and can be purchased for use with analog, VoIP, or E1/T1.

"The trixbox Appliance really alters the Asterisk landscape," Fonality CEO Chris Lyman said. "For under $1000 bucks, this Appliance rack-mounts, has dual hard-disks and all the PBX software you need pre-loaded. Folks can stop building boxes and start selling them."

The trixbox Appliance offers customers the choice of several different user interface options, and also includes the Fonality-sponsored trixbox dashboard, making it easy to configure extensions and phones.

"The trixbox Appliance is clearly deserving of recognition in the VoIP sector of the IP Communications industry. We're proud to reward Fonality's hard work with a TMC Labs Innovation Award this year," said TMC President Rich Tehrani.

According to Tom Keating, CTO and TMC Labs Editorial Director at TMC, "The Innovation Awards exemplify the best and the most unique products and services that this industry has to offer. Fonality has demonstrated a commitment to quality, and a commitment to the further development of the IP communications industry through the trixbox Appliance. Fonality deserves this great honor, and I look forward to seeing other innovative solutions from them as they continue to contribute to the future of IP communications."

The TMC Labs Innovation Awards honor products that demonstrate raw innovation, unique features, and significant contributions toward improving communications technology. The TMC Labs Innovation Awards are not granted only to the best-selling products, but instead to those demonstrating raw innovation, uniqueness, and representing a significant contribution to the industry.

2007 TMC Labs Innovation Award winners can be found in the July and August 2007 issues of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
