Flatiron School and SUNY Empire State College Selected to Join U.S. Department of Education's EQUIP ProgramNEW YORK, Aug. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Flatiron School, a programming bootcamp in NYC, today announced a partnership with SUNY Empire State College to create an accelerated certificate program that will train students to become web developers. The partnership has been selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Education's EQUIP program, which aims to provide Americans with more flexible and affordable options in higher education, while at the same time helping them build in-demand job skills, such as software development. For the first time, students admitted to the new program will be eligible for title IV financial aid, which historically hasn't been available for non-traditional education such as coding bootcamps. Students will complete foundational courses in writing and math at SUNY Empire, as well as Flatiron School's Full Stack Web Development curriculum. Upon completion, they will receive a certificate in web development from SUNY Empire, in addition to having high-demand job skills. According to its independently verified outcomes report, Flatiron School has a 98% success rate helping its graduates find jobs in tech.
