Fish & Richardson Receives Top Tier 1 National Rankings in Patent Prosecution and Patent Litigation from The Legal 500; Wins 2014 IP Boutique Law Firm Award

BOSTON --(Business Wire)--

Fish & Richardson (News - Alert) announced today that both its Patent Prosecution and Patent Litigation practices received a top Tier 1 national ranking from The Legal 500 guide to the most preeminent U.S. law firms. Fish also received top national rankings for its Patent Litigation/International Trade Commission (ITC) and Trademark and Copyright practices. Additionally, Fish won Legal 500's inaugural 2014 IP Boutique Law Firm Award for its overall outstanding work in IP law.

According to The Legal 500, Fish's Tier 1 Patent Prosecution practice "has a strong reputation for high-profile patent prosecution, for clients ranging from start-up entities to Fortune 500 companies, and is active across sectors including information technology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and media." In particular, The Legal 500 recommended Richard Anderson, Jeffrey Barclay, Dr. Christopher Bowley, Charles Hieken, and Paul Pysher.

Fish's Tier 1 Patent Litigation practice, chaired by "experienced trial lawyer" Ann Cathcart Chaplin is noted for providing "a very deep bench and superior quality of service on high-stakes Hatch-Waxman litigation." The Legal 500 also singled out "leading" litigators Juanita Brooks, Michael McKeon, and Jonathan Singer.

In addition to noting Fish's "longstanding track record of handling ITC patent litigation matters," Legal 500 highlighted principals Ruffin Cordell (News - Alert) and Michael McKeon, two of only nine attorneys in the country named to the elite "Leading ITC Lawyers" list.

For Fish's Trademark and Copyright practice, Legal 500 noted that its "team for contentious trademark matters has extensive experience in federal and state court as well as Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings, with lead litigators Mark Puzella and David Hosp having acted for a number of media, technology, apparel, and consumer goods sector clients." Fish "leverages its bench of experienced trial lawyers and IP expertise to handle copyright registration, transactional and advisory work." Kristen McCallion, co-chair of the Copyright Group, and Lisa Martens were also commended.

Inclusion in The Legal 500 is based solely on merit and the series is widely regarded as offering the definitive judgment of law firm capabilities.
