Fiber Mountain Receives TMC's 2015 SDN Excellence Award

Fiber Mountain, Inc., the Glass Core Company and provider of transformative, software-defined networking solutions for enterprise and hyperscale data centers, today announced that its Alpine Orchestration System™ (AOS™) has been named by TMC (News - Alert), a global, integrated media company, as a 2015 SDN Excellence Award winner.

"Since our launch, Fiber Mountain has worked tirelessly to bring its Glass Core™ technology to life within the data center industry," said CEO M.H. Raza. "Our AOS technology showcases the innovative nature of our solutions for hyperscale data centers, and being awarded the SDN Excellence Award serves as a promising proof point of what lies ahead for Fiber Mountain (News - Alert) and its customers."

Fiber Mountain's AOS is a centralized SDN management platform providing abstracted network control extensible to hyperscale data centers. It configures connectivity in the Glass Core using Programmable Light Paths™ (PLP™), which are software controlled port-to-port direct connections. AOS optimizes multiple layers (up to layer 4), which is necessary for data center scaling, protection and capacity planning for optical and data plane (packet) layers.

AOS is not confined to just packet processing over a static infrastructure. With a global view of the network's resources including physical assets, AOS maintains a centralized topology in real time, capable of tracking changes to the network, whether logical or physical. AOS enables a smooth migration plan to allow the Fiber Mountain Glass Core to co-exist with incumbent network infrastructures.

SDN architecture has already had a profound impact on the IT and Telecom industries and, as this technology continues to grow in popularity, the SDN Excellence Award recognizes the companies that are leading the way in SDN architecture and applications. "Recognizing leaders advancing SDN technologies, TMC is proud to announce Fiber Mountain as a recipient of the 2015 SDN Excellence Award," said Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO, TMC. "The AOS technology has demonstrated innovation and will help shape the face of the quicky evolving industry. It is our pleasure to honor Fiber Mountain for their inspiring work."

Winners of the SDN Excellence Award presented by TMC's INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine and SDN Zone will be published in the April 2015 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.
