FastSoft Reduces LA-London DVD File Transfer from 2 Hours to 9 Minutes

PASADENA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- FastSoft Inc. (www.fastsoft.com), developers of one-sided acceleration products for digital media and other large files over the Internet, today published the results of its global tests, which revealed major improvements in transfer times. Based on world record-setting FastTCP(TM) technology, the FastSoft E Series of Internet acceleration appliances reside only in the data center and does not require any hardware or software on the receiving end. The FastSoft E Series achieves breakthrough performance improvements by bypassing the limitations of the TCP protocol.

Among the findings of the testing:

-- Sending a 4.7GB DVD file from Los Angeles to London through a 100Mbps line took nine minutes, compared to 128 minutes without a FastSoft appliance. This represents a speed increase of 14.2x.

-- Sending a DVD file from Los Angeles to New York took three minutes, compared to 77 minutes without a FastSoft appliance. This represents a speed increase of 25.7x.

-- Sending a 500MB design file from New York to London through a 45Mbps line took four minutes, compared to 46 minutes without a FastSoft appliance. This represents a speed increase of 10.6.

Dan Henderson, VP of Marketing for FastSoft, said, "We have solved the problem of delivering large amounts of data with a one-sided solution that allows anyone with Internet access to download files of any size much faster than ever before. Both enterprises and media companies now have a way to accelerate delivery of large files to speed workflow production and customer downloads."

About FastSoft

FastSoft (www.fastsoft.com) was founded in 2005 to bring the benefits of Internet acceleration technology to the media and entertainment industry and other enterprises that depend on the transfer of large files. FastSoft accelerates video up to 15x for long-distance production collaboration, digital delivery to customers, and superior broadband viewing in the home. Large files - including CAD, imaging, business information, and software - can see an improvement of up to 30x faster. Unlike other acceleration solutions, FastSoft's products are single-box solutions that require no hardware or software on the receiving end. The company's core technology, FastTCP(TM), is based on research originally developed by FastSoft's founders at the California Institute of Technology's Networking Laboratory (Netlab).
