[December 02, 2009] FaceTime announces support for Squid proxy server Tweet Dec 02, 2009 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) -- Security solutions provider FaceTime Communications announced on Wednesday support for the Squid proxy server in its secure web gateway, Unified Security Gateway (USG) v3.1. The support enables organisations using Squid proxies to manage and control content posted from the corporate network to blogs, wikis, webmail and social networking sites including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. FaceTime said its USG combines content monitoring, management and logging of social networking, instant messaging and Unified Communications with URL filtering, malware and web antivirus protection. Squid is a widely deployed caching proxy server and supports a wide range of web protocols. It is popular partially because it is free, but also because it is compatible with a number of operating systems and offers high performance. USG 3.1 can be either integrated with a web/FTP proxy server, such as Blue Coat or Squid, through an ICAP-based connector, or deployed in simple pass-by mode - a plug and play deployment which requires no change to existing network configurations.
