FashioNXT bridges cultures with A China Moment opening night featuring three designers from Shenzhen, China. Cashmere by Song Hong, CC with Su XI and With Song, an Ellassay Fashion brand, will grace the runway with their 2016 collections. "I'm very glad to be returning to Portland," says Song Hong from Cashmere, whose first US show was at FashioNXT 2014.

Night wo of FashioNXT will present the Up/NXT Emerging Designer Competition and the Wearable Technology Fashion Competition.

Up/NXT is an emerging designer accelerator program designed to lift the designer's career to the next level. All designers benefit from the high level market exposure, while the winning designer receives business consulting, media coverage and boutique accounts, as well as a cash prize contributed by partner Wells Fargo (News - Alert) and a Mercy Corps Northwest scholarship to a business fundamentals class, a step toward qualifying for Mercy Corps Northwest grants and financing.

FashioNXT innovation includes a fashion forward wearable technology competition. "Studies have shown that most wearables do not have longevity in terms of user engagement. Aesthetics need to be the primary consideration for wearables. The technology is only going to be effective if it is worn," said Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman, Adjunct Associate Professor at Pratt Institute and Founder and Director of the Intelligent Materials Applied Research & Innovation (IMARI) Lab. The Wearable Technology Fashion competition received nearly 40 entries from 11 countries around the world, including Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Among the judges are representatives from technology leaders Intel and Google (News - Alert), Nike, Stanford University's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, Manufacture NY, and fashion designer Seth Aaron Henderson.

FashioNXT partners with Girls Inc. to celebrate International Day of the Girl (which takes place Oct. 11) and strong, smart bold girls around the world.

Under the bright lights of FashioNXT, nights three and four feature Portland's designer fashion leaders including Project Runway stars Michelle Lesniak and Seth Aaron, Wendy Ohlendorf and Stephanie D Couture, as well as the edgy couture of Project Runway stars Mondo Guerra and Viktor Luna.

FashioNXT is Portland's Official Fashion Week and a world leader in the fashion forward lifestyle. For more information: www.fashionxt.net
