Etisalat, Russia's MTS ink deal [Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates)](Khaleej Times (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Etisalat, one of the leading telecom operators in the Middle East and Africa, on Monday announced an agreement to peer with Mobile Tele Systems, or MTS, a leading mobile operator in Russia. Etisalat and MTS will peer their roaming hubs, enabling each to widen their roaming service portfolio and reach. Etisalat will provide access to MTS for regional roaming in the Middle East and Africa, while MTS will extend etisalat's reach across their Eurasian footprint. "The launch of our Smart Roaming Hub ushers in a new era of seamless inter-operator roaming capabilities. We are delighted to be working with MTS, a long-term partner, to extend the reach of both companies. Smart Roaming Hub provides an innovative platform to provide flexible roaming services for our customers. The Smart Roaming Hub also provides a more efficient platform for launching new services on a global basis," said Ali Amiri, executive vice-president of etisalat carrier and wholesale services. The Smart Roaming Hub will enable seamless operation of increasingly mission critical applications across different operator networks. "MTS is embracing new technologies to expand footprint and improve quality of roaming services. This agreement will enable subscribers to enjoy high quality voice and data services in roaming on next-generation networks, while MTS will be able to launch new products based on etisalat's Smart Roaming Hub platform," said Vyacheslav Nikolayev, MTS B2C marketing director.
