ENOC donates AED 3 million to 'UAE Water Aid' initiative [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]


(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dubai, 13th July, 2014 (WAM) -- Emirates National Oil Company, ENOC, today pledged AED 3 million towards the U.A.E. Water Aid initiative (U.A.E. Suqia), launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum aimed at providing fresh drinking water to 5 million people around the world.



Saeed Khoory, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC, handed over the cheque for the amount to Yahia Abdullah AlMuaimi, Head of Local Aid section Emirates Red Crescent, at a ceremony held at ENOC's headquarters.

Mr. Khoory said: "The U.A.E. Water Aid initiative underlines the commitment of our leadership to make a meaningful difference to the lives of the underprivileged across the world, further defining our nation's status as a key international donor of aid and humanitarian support. We are indeed honoured to support the philanthropic initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which further strengthens our corporate social responsibility commitment.


"Reflecting the spirit of compassion and generosity that marks the Holy Month of Ramadan, UAE Water Aid will enable communities to have access to drinking water, the vital source of life and good health. We are thankful that our contribution will help communities that are in urgent need of clean drinking water," he added.

The U.A.E. Water Aid programme was started on the first day of Ramadan and has so far received overwhelming support from all sections of the community.
