COMPAGNIE Generale de Geophysique has secured a $100m contract from Indian state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp to shoot 3D seismic surveys off India this year.

The French contractor intends to use its acquisition vessel Geocluster to shoot the surveys in deepwater between October and next March covering 8,600 sq km off the eastern coast.

CGG has worked with ONGC for the past four years, shooting seismic surveys for the state group on blocks won through the new exploration licensing programme.

CENTURION Energy International has acquired a private US company in a $225m deal to gain new licences in Egypt's Nile Delta and add 8,200 barrels of oil equivalent per day in production.

The Egyptian properties are El Mansoura and Qantara, next to Centurion's existing acreage in the country, where the London-listed oil company wants to become a leading supplier to liquefied natural gas plants.

CLOUGH has gained a charter for two years to supply the Normand Clipper subsea construction vessel for Apache's operations in the Gulf of Mexico.

The A$40m (US$30m) deal will begin in March and can be extended by Apache for another 15 months.

Clough has worked for Apache in Australia and on the Forties riser replacement project in the North Sea.

ANZON has tested its Manta appraisal well off southeast Australia at a rate of 6,370 barrels a day and will link the field to SeaDrill's Crystal Ocean floating production storage and offloading vessel in the third quarter.

The Australian oil company is moving the Ocean Patriot semi-submersible rig to drill three development wells into the nearby Basker field, which is producing through Crystal Ocean .

EGDON Resources has found two gas fields in Britain with the Westerdale and Kirkleatham onshore wells and is about to drill a well into Portland to test a gas storage site.

The London-listed independent is preparing to test both wells in March and is leasing equipment to test the Waddock Cross oil discovery in southern England.

FERGUSON Modular has landed a GBP300,000 ($565,000) contract from Kellogg Brown ' Root to supply four modules for BP's Jigsaw project in the North Sea.

The Aberdeen contractor will provide an offshore base for a search and rescue helicopter service on the Miller platform with a crew room, two workshops and an operations centre.

The project will provide 24-hour helicopter cover in the central North Sea area with an office centre for Bond Offshore on the Miller platform.

FAROE Petroleum has opened an office in Stavanger to gain access to the Norwegian oil industry and taken on former Paladin Resources management.

Helge Hammer, previously Paladin's deputy managing director for Norway, will head Faroe Petroleum's operations in the country.

He will be joined by Andrew Roberts as exploration manager.
