Enea and Nanoradio Partner To Bring WLAN VoIP and Internet Connectivity to Mobile Terminals

San Jose, CA, June 26th, 2006 – Enea (Stockholm: ENEA.ST), the world leader in advanced device software, today announced that it is working with Nanoradio to integrate the OSE™ real-time operating system (RTOS) with Nanoradio’s NRX701 WLAN platform for mobile terminals. The integration of OSE with the NRX701 will make it easy for mobile terminal manufacturers to add high-performance, low-power WLAN capability to their mobile devices for applications like VoIP and Internet connectivity.

“Nanoradio’s NRX700 provides an excellent platform for adding WLAN capability to mobile devices, especially where ultra-low-power consumption is a top priority,” said Anders Flodin, director of strategic alliances at Enea. “Enea’s OSE RTOS is already deployed in half of the world’s 3G mobile phones and base stations. Our partnership with Nanoradio will further strengthen our position as the premier choice for 3G mobile terminals.”

“OSE’s widespread deployment in 3G mobile phones makes it a natural for integration with our NRX700 WLAN engine,” said Pär Bergsten, CEO at Nanoradio. “OSE’s compact footprint, high reliability and advanced power management capabilities make it a perfect fit for the NRX700, and greatly simplify the integration of the NRX700 with wireless devices.”

The NRX700 is a high performance, highly integrated WLAN chip set that combines an ARM core with an RF transceiver and a baseband/media access controller (MAC). The transceiver features an integrated 21-dBm power amplifier with advanced power save capability (0.3 mW in standby mode). It also includes a VCO and PLL (including loop filter), with no need for external SAW filters.

The baseband/MAC is optimized for data, voice and Hi-Fi audio. Supporting wireless data rates of up to 54-Mbps (per IEEE 801.11 b and g), the NRX700 features on-chip RAM that supports host applications without the need for external flash, EPROM, or RAM. The NRX700 supports both on-chip crystals and external clocks (13, 16.8, 19.2, 26, 38.4).

OSE is a family of compact, high-performance, deterministic real-time operating systems. Optimized for mobile computing applications, the OSE family addresses all aspects of low-cost, feature-rich 3G handset design, from DSP baseband processing to RISC application processing. The OSE family delivers fully-preemptive, event-driven, real-time response. It also features a power management system that extends battery life, a crash-safe file system with flash support, and dynamic download capability, which enhances mobile device flexibility by enabling new applications to be downloaded to systems as they operate in the field.
