ELECTION PREPARATIONS IN WEST JAVA 100 PERCENT COMPLETED

Bandung, Apr 08, 2009 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- Preparations for the national legislative election on Thursday in West Java had been 100 percent completed, Governor Ahmad Heriyawan said after a teleconference with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday.

"God willing, everything concerning election logistics, security, ballots, ballot boxes, and polling booths, is 100 percent ready," Heryawan said.

In the teleconference with President Yudhoyono at the West Java Police Headquarters, the governor was accompanied by provincial police chief Insp Gen Tmur Pradopo, West Java chapter of the General Election Commission (KPU) chairman Ferry Kurniansyah, and a number of local government and police officials.

On the occasion, the governor reported the election preparations in the province to President Yudhoyono.

Heriyawan said there was no special message from the president but the head of state expressed hope that all provincial and district administration officials across the country would make the election a success by maintaining a conducive situation.

"There is no special message from the president. He only checked the election preparations in every province and as governor I told the head of state that everything was 100 percent ready," Heriyawan said.
