EIDA's smartcard passes GCC test [Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates)]


(Emirates News Agency (WAM) (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Abu Dhabi, Dec 31th, 2011 /WAM/ -- The Emirates Identity Authority /EIDA/ has announced that the identity smartcard it had developed has passed the test conducted on it in Bahrain to determine its compatibility with the GCC's e-gate.



The test was performed last week in preparation for introducing it all over the Gulf Cooperation Council states, a group of six countries composed of UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Oman.

Last week, a team consisting of officials from EIDA and the Interior Ministry had visited Bahrain to conduct the actual test of the card at the e-gate at the Bahrain International Airport.
