eBay phone plan

(Daily Record Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) BUYERS and sellers on auction website eBay will soon be able to call each other via the internet.

It will allow traders to talk for free using the Skype internet telephone service, which is owned by eBay.

The company said it will help the site's 11.7million UK users to share information more easily. A pilot scheme begins next month.

An eBay spokesman said: "We expect it will reassure buyers, while dramatically increasing both the number and value of sales."

EBay bought Skype last year for pounds 1.4billion, gaining a foothold in the fast-growing internet telephone market.
