DMEurope: 'Irish online shoppers spent EUR 2.13 bln in 2009 - survey' [DMeurope]

A new survey by Visa Europe found that Irish adults spent EUR 2.13 billion online in 2009, reports TechCentral.ie. The average Irish online shopper spent EUR 1,450 in 2009, with flights and holidays the most popular online purchases - made by 83 percent of respondents in 2009. This was followed by entertainment tickets (67%) and CD/DVDs/video games (52%). The average worker in Ireland spend 55 hours a year browsing for goods or shopping line between 09.00 and 17.30 hours, equal to more than one working week a year. The majority (88%) of online shoppers in Ireland are confident that their chosen internet retailer is reputable and reliable and 80 percent know what security features to look for.
