CHICAGO (Dow Jones)--Chicago Mercantile Exchange lean hog futures closed mostly firm Friday on profit taking, spreading and positioning before the weekend and next week's Goldman Roll. Pork bellies finished higher on fund buying, $3-per-hundredweight higher 14- to 16-pound fresh bellies to $82 from $79 and lean hog advances that drove February and March to one-month tops.
CME Cattle Review: Mixed; Spreads, More New Feeders Highs
CHICAGO (Dow Jones)--Chicago Mercantile Exchange live cattle contracts closed mixed amid late spreading Friday, while August and the more distant feeder cattle months hit new contract highs for the second straight session. February live cattle closed 22 points lower at 96.05 cents a pound. April settled unchanged at 94.55 cents. January feeder cattle settled up 17 points at 114.50 cents.
