DevonWay Selected by NPPD's Cooper Nuclear Station

SAN ANTONIO --(Business Wire)--

DevonWay, Inc., the leading supplier of utility business systems employing the software-as-a-service model, announced a major new contract with Nebraska Public Power District.

The contract supplies NPPD's Cooper Nuclear Station with TimeWay™ -- a workforce time and schedule tracking system designed to help the nuclear industry comply with the 10 CFR Part 26 Subpart-I, Nuclear Fatigue Rule requirements. DevonWay will also supply Professional Services to configure the software for immediate use in concert with Cooper Station's affected systems, and to help promote change management needed to ensure success of the plant-wide project. The NRC has mandated that new fatigue rule processes must be in place by October, 2009.

Commenting about the project, Eugene Mace, Nuclear Asset Manager, said, "At Cooper Station we use SAP® for systems of record to control Asset Management, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance activities and Human Resources functions. Rather than modify these complex systems, we selected DevonWay's on-demand TimeWay™ solution, which allows us to leverage our SAP® controlled data while adding the flexibility we need to support new work rule processes, regulatory reporting and audit requirements."

In making the announcement, EVP and COO Kevin Carter said, "DevonWay's innovation platform was used to build TimeWay, the first commercially available nuclear fatigue rule solution. TimeWay employs features that come standard with all DevonWay solutions - features such as hover tips for quick understanding of work rules, utilizing Google for searching across plant data, imported work schedules and displaying annunciated (red/yellow/green) analysis matrices for forecasting potential work rule or union rule violations, and web services that ensure against requiring dual data entry at any step in the process. Our implementation approach is one of turnkey configurability yielding extremely effective business solutions in very short elapsed time periods. Nuclear applications like TimeWay fill industry process gaps with solutions that are easy to use, easy to configure and easy to connect with other systems like SAP®."

About NPPD/Cooper Station

Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS) is the largest nuclear powered generator in the state. CNS, which has performed safely since it was first put into operation in July of 1974, generates approximately 800 megawatts of electricity. Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) owns and operates CNS; however, it has contracts to sell a portion of the electricity it generates to other utilities. The remainder of the power is used by NPPD and its customers or marketed to other utilities. Management support services are provided by Entergy Nuclear Nebraska through January 18, 2014. Around 24 percent of NPPD's total annual generation comes from CNS.
