Detecon To Lead Two IPTV Panel Events at GLOBALCOMM 2006

- Discussions will cover both business and technical issues of this emerging new technology

Chicago, IL, Detecon, Inc., a leading global telecommunications and information technology consultant, today announced that it will chair two key sessions on IPTV as part of the International Engineering Consortium’s participation at GLOBALCOMM 2006. The events will take place June 5-6 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

The first event, entitled “IPTV Ecosystem: End-to-End View on Delivering the End-User Experience,” will be chaired by Dr. Patrick Pfeffer, Chief Network Architect at Detecon, Inc. Speakers will include executives from Sprint Nextel, Alcatel, Kasenna and dCODE.

“IPTV may be the ever-elusive ‘killer app’ which Telcos around the world are searching for to provide the incremental revenue and customer retention they need to effectively compete,” said Dr. Pfeffer, Pfeffer recently authored Detecon’s white paper entitled “IPTV: Technology and Development Predictions,” a must-read for industry executives interested in IPTV.

The second event is part of the IEC’s Morning Executive Forum and is entitled “IPTV: The Real Story.” Speakers will include executives from Lucent, Nortel and ADC Telecommunications. “IPTV clearly warrants a frank and honest discussion that will help dispel any myths about this technology,” said Lars Bodenheimer, Vice President - Technology & Network Engineering at Detecon, Inc. and panel Chairperson. “IPTV will play a vital role in today’s rapidly accelerating industry convergence and competition.” Bodenheimer is responsible for engineering projects covering the entire design, planning, implementation, and optimization life cycle for Detecon’s major telecom and federal government clients in the Americas.

Both these thought-provoking IPTV panel sessions are part of GLOBALCOMM 2006, one of the industry’s largest telecom events. Run by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), GLOBALCOMM 2006 brings together 20,000 attendees from 100 countries, and more than 450 exhibitors in one global marketplace.
