Desert View Elementary Performs School Choice Week Dance

The students, parents, and staff of Desert View Elementary School will combine a Parent-Teacher Organization meeting with a choreographed dance performance to Justin Timberlake's "Can't Stop the Feeling" to celebrate National School Choice Week.

On Thursday, January 19 at 5 p.m. the meeting and dance performance will kick off, with fourth graders performing the choreography. The meeting and performance will take place at the school, located at 1508 10th Ave, San Luis, AZ 85349.

Desert View is a public school that is part of the Gadsden Elementary District, serving 782 students in grades K - 6.

The goal of the event is to celebrate great education choices in Arizona and raise awareness among parents about school choice. The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week (Jnuary 22-28, 2017), which will feature more than 21,000 events across the country.

"School choice, at the end of the day, is about students," said Meredith Nelson, principal of Desert View Elementary. "What better way to spotlight the importance and impact of this issue than by demonstrating just how many families have something to celebrate during National School Choice Week."

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 21,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
