Desert Clinics "Center of Excellence" Reducing Chronic Pain

Along the Coachella Valley, from Palm Springs to Rancho Mirage and Indio, doctors at three healthcare clinics are changing the lives of patients in pain. Physicians, medical professionals, and the Desert Clinic Pain Institute and the Center of Excellence (COE) run a three-phase, 12-month program to reduce the suffering of patients in acute and chronic pain.

"Our goal is to treat patients in chronic pain, using a comprehensive, integrated and holistic method to improve their quality of life," said Desert Clinic Pain Institute Founder and CEO Chris McDonald. "Many of our patients have been failed by other treatment models and are at the end of their rope, but we have seen them thrive within our multidisciplinary approach, and healing environment."

COE has three phases that are customized to support a patient's individual treatment needs in four specific areas: medical treatment, behavioral therapy, alternative medicine, and physical conditioning. COE is house within each of the three clinics in Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Indio.

Patients benefit from traditional medicine, but if they meet the criteria for COE, they are afforded a wide range of holistic opportunities such as yoga, meditation, massage and acupuncture. What makes the program unique is that patient treatment takes place in a single location, which allows for much greater patient interaction, consistent conversation, ongoing precise patient evaluation, and ultimately, positive outcomes. More importantly, a community is created through the COE model that facilitates a personal relationship between the medical staff and patients who work together to eliminate the problem of pain.

"We believe that our integrated, whole-person treatment model is changing the way in which we care for patients in chronic pain," said Desert Clinic Pain Institute Founder and CEO Chris McDonald. "We are building partnerships with medical groups across the Coachella Valley and into the high desert so that more people will be able to live with far less pain. Ultimately, we want to build a national program of treatment centers that extends throughout California and across the country."

Desert Clinic Pain Institute and the Center of Excellence operate three healthcare clinics in Palm Springs, Indio, and Rancho Mirage. The Summit Institute and Center of Excellence operate three clinics in San Jacinto, Hemet, and Victorville. More clinics are in development for California and across the U.S.
