DeNA to Form JV with China Online Game Developer [Jiji Press English News Service]

(Jiji Press English News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Tokyo, Jan. 17 (Jiji Press)--DeNA Co. said Tuesday it will set up a joint venture with Chinese online game developer NetDragon Websoft Inc. by March in a bid to promote its Mobage mobile phone game services in China.

The Japanese company aims to use its expertise to develop China- bound games and expand sales outlets there in a tie-up with the local partner.

Capitalized at 6 million dollars, the joint company will be owned 51 pct by NetDragon and 49 pct by DeNA.

The two partners have yet to decide on the name of the company and when to launch operations.

In July last year, DeNA began offering Mobage services for smartphones in China through a local subsidiary.

But the company discovered that it is difficult to provide services tailored for Chinese users as the subsidiary mainly deals with localization of Japanese games and sales.

Established in 1999, NetDragon is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.END (c) 2012 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
