[December 04, 2008] Dejected employee commits suicide Tweet Dec 02, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) -- A private TV channel employee, brother of eight, committed suicide Tuesday by hanging himself with a ceiling fan after he was not paid four months salary by the organization, he worked. Resident of Shadbagh Muhammad Azam Khan was sole breadwinner of his family including his ailing mother as his father had left them some years back due to family disputes. He was working as technician in the TV channel and had been demanding the administration of the said organization his last four months salary but was refused flatly by the concerned department. The incident took place around a week before Eid. The news of Azams death dropped as bombshell on the family as he was sole breadwinner and was earning livelihood for his seven younger sisters and a minor brother. We are feeling once again shelter-less and alone in this world, a 13-year-old sister of the victim youth said with tears rolling on her cheeks. First, they felt themselves homeless when their father left them alone some years ago, she said. It took all the family members some years to forget sufferings of lives due to the absence of their family head and started depending upon elder brother Azam Khan. Now he has also gone, she said bursting into tears. Quoting the victim family members, the police said that Azam was mentally upset as he was not given his last four months salary. Due to financial crisis Azam started part time job at a PCO, but he could not make his both ends meet. On the day of incident, the police said, Azam met the accountant of the said channel and told him about the problems being faced by his family maintaining that Eid was approaching fast and his younger sisters and brother were waiting for money. He informed about his ailing mother but he was not paid. On which he got dejected and ended his life by hanging himself with a ceiling fan of his house with the help of a telephone wire. The deceaseds family told the police that Azam before committing suicide recited verses from the Holy Quran and asked his younger sister to leave his room.
