Defence Minister hoping to go to the Solomon Islands this week(IRN News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Preparations are being made for a VIP visit from the New Zealand Government to the Solomon Islands. Defence Minister Phil Goff is expected to make a brief trip to Honiara this week. Two more air force flights are scheduled to go up to the Solomons this week. One leaves tomorrow morning and the other, early on Wednesday. A spokesman for Mr Goff says the minister is hoping to attend Cabinet, which has been rescheduled this week for Wednesday, so it is still not certain when he will get to Honiara. Mr Goff has not requested Wednesday's early morning flight be delayed, but it is likely it will be slightly deferred to accommodate the minister. He is expected to stay for a full day before returning home to New Zealand on Friday. |
