Dede McGuire resigns from 'Doug Banks Show' [Fort Worth Star-Telegram]

(Fort Worth Star-Telegram (TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Oct. 31--The hardest-working woman in radio is still working hard, but she is leaving one of her gigs.

DeDe McGuire, who was the subject of a DFW.com profile in August, announced Friday that she is leaving the syndicated Doug Banks Show after 10 years with the show.

"It was an extremely difficult decision, because we have had so many wonderful years together, but it is time for me to step down and focus on bigger and better things at this point in my career," McGuire said in an email statement. "I am truly honored that I have had the opportunity to work along side such a great man who I have learned so much from over the years." One of the things McGuire will focus on is DeDe in the Morning, her popular a.m. show on Grand Prairie-based KKDA/104.5 FM "K104." Although Doug Banks doesn't air in DFW (it can be heard online or via iHeartRadio), McGuire contributed her skills to it every weekday afternoon, sometimes from a studio in north Dallas, sometimes via an ISDN line from her home in Arlington. She did the double shift five days a week, sometimes driving straight from K104's Grand Prairie studios to the north Dallas studios.

In our August story, Banks called McGuire the best partner he's ever had.

"Anybody who can hold down a top-five morning show in a top-five market in America, and then come in and do an afternoon show and keep that No. 1, too -- I don't think people have any idea at all how hard this woman works," Banks said.
