Databarracks reaps benefits of growing DRaaS market; Cloud provider building on success of 2013

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Databarracks, a provider of cloud infrastructure and disaster recovery services, is reaping the benefits of the growing Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) market. The London-based firm doubled its revenue from DRaaS services in 2013, highlighting the increasing number of businesses beginning to move away from traditional disaster recovery methods.

Uptake of DRaaS has increased rapidly, as organisations look to improve their recovery capabilities by embracing the scalability and cost benefits offered by cloud computing. Findings from US market research firm Markets and Markets predict that by 2018 the DRaaS market is set to be valued $5.7bn demonstrating its enormous potential. Peter Groucutt, MD of Databarracks believes that this growth is a reflection of the changing demands faced by C-level executives, who are increasingly trying to improve their recovery objectives without increasing spend: "The huge growth we're seeing in the DRaaS market reflects the impact technology has made to business processes in organisations today. Traditional models for recovery are increasingly seen as too expensive, time consuming or unable to meet aggressive recovery demands. As a result, many organisations, from SMEs to large enterprises, are investigating the more flexible alternatives made available to them through cloud computing.

"DRaaS certainly addresses some well-recognised pain points in IT disaster recovery management, including the need for frequent recovery-readiness testing and the cost of dedicated data centre space and recovery facilities. DRaaS solutions mean organisations no longer have the burden of hardware and software upkeep, allowing the IT department to focus on running the day-to-day operations." Groucutt continued: "As technology has progressed, we have evolved our offerings to address the changing needs of UK businesses. It may be a young market but its one full of potential." Databarracks' success in boosting revenues is not the only notable achievement the organisation has experienced over the past 12 months. It was named Cloud Company of the Year at the SVC awards as well as BC Provider of the Year at the UK Cloud awards. It has also achieved impressive public sector contract wins through the Government's G-Cloud framework.

Groucutt states that the success achieved over the past year is a reflection of Databarracks' ability to react to demands of its customers and points to further success in 2014: "We have moved with our customers. Ten years ago, we provided online backup services, but have since moved on to also offer disaster recovery, services for production systems with email and IaaS. This year will see us continue to offer these maturing services through our expanding reseller network, the Databarracks Partner (de)Programme."
