Convergence 2018: Conference returns providing deeper insights on collaborative healthcare models for success in value-based care

BOSTON, July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Chilmark Research, with support from returning sponsors Cerner, Geneia LLC, and Epic is pleased to announce the annual Convergence Conference is returning to Boston, MA, on November 5-7, 2018.

Chilmark Research, with support from returning sponsors Cerner, Geneia, and Epic is pleased to announce the annual Convergence Conference is returning to Boston, MA, on November 5-7, 2018. Convergence’18 will highlight how providers and payers are pursuing collaborative partnerships that will lead to competitive advantage in the markets they serve.

Providing a unique, forward-looking perspective on the role of health IT in enabling provider-payer collaboration for value-based care (VBC), Convergence'18 will convene healthcare leaders to share and learn about best strategies, obstacles, and lessons learned in this constantly evolving and innovating industry.

"Alex Azar, Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), has made it abundantly clear that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will continue to lead the migration to innovative, VBC payment models. Many state Medicaid programs are also aggressively moving to more capitated payment models. And employers and payers are pushing ahead with their own VBC models. The market is responding with near record volume of M&A activity in 2017 and 2018 that shows little sign of abating," notes Chilmark Research President John Moore.

"However, there is little discussion on hw this morphing landscape and shifting of risk will adequately be addressed through effective application and use of IT. The overriding objective of Convergence'18 is to uncover the most critical IT challenges and strategies to support efficient and effective converged provider-payer strategies."

Convergence'18 will highlight how providers and payers are pursuing collaborative partnerships that will lead to competitive advantage in the markets they serve. Delivering the opening keynote are Rick Weisblatt, Chief Innovation Officer and Strategy at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and a senior executive of Dartmouth-Hitchcock to discuss their converged partnership in the State of New Hampshire. On the second day, Leah Binder, CEO of the Leapfrog Group, and Sharmilla Shankarkumar, Partner at Mercer, will discuss the challenges, strategies, and resources available to employers looking to establish their own high-performance networks. Other Convergence sessions will address topics such as:

  • Emerging consumer-centric access-points for care
  • Shared data platforms and analytics strategies
  • Creating a high-performance network
  • Self-insured employer perspectives and roles
  • Government's role in convergence

In all breakout sessions, Chilmark's own analysts will join industry experts onstage to facilitate discussion and provide an overview of trends that are helping to establish paths to convergence. Additionally, this year's event has been expanded to two full days with a Convergence in New England half-day symposium, focused exclusively on the region's innovative organizations and policies that often serve as a model for other national stakeholders to emulate.

Registration is now open for the conference, which will be hosted at the Hyatt Regency Boston. To take advantage of the lowest possible registration rates, be sure to register prior to August 10th.
