Control4 Appoints JD Ellis, General CounselControl4 Corporation (NASDAQ: CTRL), a leading global provider of smart-home solutions, today announced the promotion of JD Ellis to the position of General Counsel. Mr. Ellis joined Control4 in August of 2009 and brings years of in-house legal experience, representing and providing legal counsel to technology and emerging growth companies. He has advised companies on a wide range of legal matters including, mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions, intellectual property, financing and securities, and employment matters. "JD is a proven legal, corporate, and strategic advisor to our team," said Martin Plaehn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Control4. "With his extensive knowledge of our growing business, his experiences and success in assisting that growth and with our last four acquisitions, JD's full assumption of the GC responsibilities will be rapid and seamless." Prior to joining Control4, Mr. Ellis served as legal counsel to Ivanti (formerly LANDesk (News - Alert) Software), managing legal affairs through a period of significant growth, and through the company's acquisition by Emerson Electric (EMR NYSE). At Control4, JD last served as Assistant General Counsel prior to this promotion. Mr. Ellis is admitted to the bar in California and Utah and reeived his Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center in 2006 and earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Brigham Young University. Greg Bishop, who previously served as General Counsel for Control4, has decided to leave the company to pursue other endeavors.
