'Consumentenbond sees difficulty in PC buy without Windows'

(DMeurope Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dutch consumer organisation Consumentenbond acknowledged the difficulty in buying a PC without Windows Vista. Only a small number of PC retailers deliver computers without the system. Most PC manufacturers include a EUR 35-100 license fee for Windows in the cost of their PCs and notebooks. The Consumentenbond has suggested that users should refuse Windows when unpacking their new computer. The license small print says Microsoft then has to pay back the price of the license. Most people do not realise they can do and this is compounded by the fact that manufacturers rarely give the money back.
