Consol Energy selects RingCube vDesk solution

Jul 27, 2010 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- RingCube Technologies, a provider of managed virtual workspaces, has announced that Consol Energy, a producer of coal and gas, has selected RingCube vDesk to help centralize management of PCs and regulate overall performance of desktop computing in its underground mining systems.

RingCube vDesk is a enterprise desktop virtualization solution. RingCube's virtual workspace technology separates the user's desktop environment including applications, data and settings from the operating system and encapsulates it into a secure container while backing up every virtual desktop to a centralized server.

The company said that users can run their vDesk workspace at the office or on unmanaged PCs at home, or at a disaster recovery site. When users start their vDesk workspace, it transforms any Windows PC into their own familiar corporate workspace where users can access their files, applications, settings and entire desktop.

George Rosato, vice president of information systems and technology for Consol Energy, said: "Our main goal was to leverage existing equipment to deliver improved application performance to our underground and remote sites and RingCube was instrumental in delivering the complete desktop virtualization solution we needed.

"vDesk has enabled us to dramatically reduce the time to transition new employees to the Consol desktop. The solution has also significantly increased the performance of our critical applications, which means we can get more mileage out of existing PCs without having to purchase additional hardware." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent.
