Congressman Blake Farenthold Joins Frost Bank and FHLB Dallas to Award $500K Grant


Media outlets are encouraged to join Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-District 27), The Salvation Army, Frost Bank, and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) for a press conference announcing The Salvation Army Center for Hope. The 28,000-square-foot campus to serve low-income families and veterans was awarded a $500,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant from Frost Bank and FHLB Dallas in 2016.

The event will take place at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2016, at The Salvation Army Community Center, 1802 Buford Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401.

The Center for Hope facility will serve homeless families and veterans with 220 beds, up from the current 120 beds, as well as the capacity to serve approximately 240,000 meals a year, up from the 175,000 meals annually. The new facility will also be able to accommodate a variety of family structures, including single fathers with children and families with boys older than age 12. It will be the only shelter in the Corpus Christi/Coastal Bend region with this capability. The facility is scheduled to open late next year.
