CompTIA ChannelCon Attendees to Get Tools to Help their Local Teachers Teach Tech

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., June 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CompTIA, the IT industry trade association, today announced that its philanthropic arm, the Creating IT Futures Foundation, will host a special session at ChannelCon "Minds in Motion" in Chicago to show attendees how to make classroom-based technology more accessible and fun for teachers and students in their local school districts.

Using Raspberry Pi technology, Creating IT Futures will teach attendees how to offer basic computer science education and skills to their local teachers who in turn can better teach their students about information technology. Raspberry Pi is a palm-sized, single-board computer, costing less than $50 and developed by a non-profit foundation in the United Kingdom.

"In this unique session, attendees will get hands-on with technology to help their local schools," said Charles Eaton, CEO and president of Creating IT Futures. "After ChannelCon they'll be able to help teachers feel more comfortable with tech in their classrooms and after-schools clubs so that those teachers can increase student interest in tech ad creative problem-solving."

This ChannelCon session runs August 2^nd from 2:30-5:30 p.m., the day before ChannelCon officially opens, and includes creating a web server or website, using peripheral devices such as a camera to make a video, and brainstorming classroom activities. Attendees will receive a free Raspberry Pi starter kit to bring home to a local teacher.
