CommNexus Call for Applications
SAN DIEGO, July 8 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CommNexus is now accepting applications from local tech companies to meet with executives from Verizon Wireless Open Development on August 13-14 through its MarketLink program. CommNexus, San Diego's premier nonprofit network of communications companies, organizes MarketLink, a free program that offers local companies the opportunity to present their technologies to multinational corporations in a one-on-one, 45-minute session. The deadline to submit an application is July 21.
The MarketLink session will be attended by Verizon Wireless representatives, including VP of Open Development Anthony A. Lewis, Director of Open Development Maurice Thompson, Director of Open Development Reginald Richard, Executive Director of Strategic Investments Daniel Keoppel, Director of Strategic Alliances Christopher Lloyd, and Executive Director of Internet and Technology Policy Paul Brigner.
Verizon Wireless Open Development is interested in engaging and partnering with companies that have next-generation or disruptive technologies in several areas, including:
-- Low cost CDMA handsets
-- Transportation & Monitoring Devices
-- Health Care Devices
-- Social networking and communications devices
-- Ultra mobile PCs/Mobile Internet Devices
-- Consumer Electronic devices and Digital Appliances
-- Gaming Devices
-- Mobile Wallets / Credit Card Replacements (NFC)
-- Applications that monitor motor vehicle performance

Applications will be reviewed by Verizon and accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. There are up to 16 spots and 4 standby spots available for 45-minute presentation meetings. Applicants will be notified on a rolling basis if accepted. Final notification of acceptance is July 31, 2008. CommNexus' MarketLink program with Verizon will be hosted by Mintz Levin at 3580 Carmel Mountain Road, Suite 300.
