Commissioners work toward energy efficiency
Nov 02, 2009 (Breckenridge American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
County Commissioners elected to move toward making the Stephens County Courthouse more energy efficient at Monday's regular meeting at the Stephens County Courthouse.
Brian Dowell with 7L Energy of Abilene conducted a presentation in reference to the county's eligibility for an Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) in the amount of $35,000.
Dowell said his company would help reduce lighting and other costs by 70 percent.
Information for the grant must be submitted by Nov. 6, Dowell said. Following the unanimous vote, information to have the grant awarded to the county was submitted.
Cameron Gulley presented a report on the audit for 2008 and said the county "was in great shape."
"Even with the jail project, county funds are in order, but we knew that already," he said. "Sharon (Trigg) does an outstanding job, and Helen's (Haddock) and Terry's (Sullivan) offices do a great job of keeping everything in order."
The group also confirmed election judges, alternate judges and bilingual election clerks for the Nov. 3 election.
Election Judges include: Precinct 1 -- Ann Guy; Precinct 2 -- Nelda Snow; Precinct 3 -- Jean Hayworth; and Precinct 4 -- Beth Calvert.
Alternate Election Judges include: Precinct 1 -- Eva Latham; Precinct 2 -- William Snow; Precinct 3 -- Lisa Echols; and Precinct 4 -- Buddy Brandenberger.
Bilingual Election Clerks include Precinct 1 -- Maria Duran; Precinct 3 -- Diana Huapilla; and Precinct 4 -- Dovie Olaves.
