The sources said that the deal includes a mechanism that will allow Comcast to reduce the amount of cash it will have to contribute when the deal closes. Once final details are established, a deal could be announced by the end of this week. It is currently unclear if 20% owner Vivendi will be a part of the deal for Comcast to buy a 51% stake, but the French company reportedly told GE that it wants to sell its stake. Shares of GE rose 2.9% in early Monday trading.
