Cloudmark Introduces MobileAuthority, Security OfferingJul 27, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Cloudmark, a company involved in carrier-grade messaging security, announced MobileAuthority, a new offering to protect mobile operators and customers against messaging threats. According to company officials, MobileAuthority is a carrier-grade messaging security solution that delivers technology and services for mobile messaging protection. With MobileAuthority, mobile operators can identify malicious senders and detect malicious content for SMS and MMS. "The continued rapid growth of mobile messaging has created an environment that is ripe for abuse by attackers, and the situation will undoubtedly worsen for both operators and their customers if steps are not taken to address messaging security," said Michael Osterman, founder of Osterman Research. "There is a growing need for solutions that will not only protect customers from messaging threats, but also relieve the cost and infrastructure burden that mobile spam volume is placing on operator networks." According to a new Harris Interactive survey, commissioned by Cloudmark, of 1,812 U.S. adults who own mobile devices, 44 percent of device owners indicated that they had received mobile spam. "As mobile messaging threats continue to increase, operators are demanding solutions to protect their users and reduce the burden on their networks," said Jamie de Guerre, chief technology officer at Cloudmark. "With MobileAuthority, Cloudmark provides the technology, people and data needed to effectively safeguard their customers against mobile threats."
