Click! Network Selects NeuStar To Support CALEA Compliance Efforts

STERLING, Va., June 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NeuStar, Inc. announced today that Click! Network, a Tacoma, Washington-based broadband network of independent local exchange carriers (ILECs) and one of the nation's largest municipally-owned telecommunications systems, has selected NeuStar to support its Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) compliance efforts.

The CALEA compliance deadline was May 14, 2007 for all facilities-based broadband access providers and interconnected VoIP service providers. CALEA greatly enhances the ability of law enforcement professionals armed with a court order to investigate crimes. Over 10,000 providers of telecommunications services - including telephone and cable companies, WiFi providers, broadband providers and institutions of higher education - are impacted by CALEA.

Click! is now CALEA-compliant after agreeing to a one-year contract with NeuStar, under which NeuStar will provide broadband lawful intercept services to the network. Click! was among the first municipality-owned networks in America to meet the federal CALEA compliance mandate by using NeuStar's trusted third-party services.

NeuStar was the first fiduciary services company to offer all legal compliance services to major carriers and smaller ILECS as truly scalable applications.

"We are confident in NeuStar's ability to handle these important federally-mandated requirements on behalf of the city," said Terry Dillon, Click!'s Network Services Manager.
