[December 28, 2009] City unveils Web site designs Tweet Dec 28, 2009 (The Times-Tribune - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The public is invited to comment on the appearance of the City of Corbin's new Web site. Four options have been offered to the city, each of which has subtle differences in color and font style, according to City Manager Bill Ed Cannon. Cannon said city residents can review the pages online and e-mail him with comments prior to the January commissioners meeting when the final selection will likely be made. Once the site is selected, Cannon said the revamped Web site should be launched before the end of January. The city's current site, which Cannon said was launched several years ago, has never been fully utilized. Cannon said he wants the updated site to be user-friendly and informative. City residents will be able to use the site to pay bills, including taxes and business license fees. They will also be able to contact city officials via e-mail, all of which Cannon said will save postage. "It's just a convenience thing because, anymore, people don't have the time they once had," Cannon said. The site will also include a calendar that lists city meeting dates and agendas and meeting minutes will be posted, Cannon said. Links will be provided to other area agencies such as the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Corbin Economic Development Agency. The city is using an independent contractor and will pay an estimated $7,000 to $10,000 for the work, Cannon said.
