Citizens Against Government Waste Cheers FCC's Restoration of Internet FreedomToday, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) President Tom Schatz released a statement following the approval of the landmark Restoring Internet Freedom order by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC (News - Alert)): "We are thrilled that the FCC has voted to restore internet freedom. Removing the antiquated, depression-era regulations on the internet that were imposed in February 2015 is a landmark achievement for taxpayers and consumers. "In addition to returning the internet to the successful light-touch regulatory framework that was in place for two decades, this order restores the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC (News - Alert)) role as the cop on the beat for consumer protection and privacy. The order imposes new transparency requirements for internet service providers, giving the FTC increased enforcement capabilities against deceptive online practices.
