China's Online Banking Trade Volume Exceed CNY 72 Trillion


(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BEIJING, Mar 21, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --The online banking business in China achieved an annual trade volume of CNY 72.6 trillion in 2005, reported by iResearch, a leading market researcher and consultant in China.



Impressively, the personal online banking sector hit trade volume of 2.4 trillion (USD 1 = CNY 8.04) in 2005, rocketing 500% from that a year earlier. The online banking business has become a highlight in the Chinese banking industry and all leading commercial banks in China had made considerable investment in it.

The report indicates that the companies were still the major customers of the online banking services and contributed 96.7% of the total trade volume of 2005, up to CNY 70.2 trillion, which is a growth of CNY 21.3 trillion from that in 2004.


At the same time, personal customers grew fast and China had 34.6 million personal subscribers for online banking services by the end of 2005.
