China online marketing market size at RMB8.35 bln, H1
BEIJING, Sep 02, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
China's online marketing market size
edged up 2.9 percent year on year to 8.35 billion yuan in the first
half of this year, signalling the warming up of China's online
advertisement market along with the national economic recovery,
according to Data Center of the China Internet (DCCI).
The following Chart One compares China's online marketing size in
the first half of 2007, 2008 and 2009.
The online marketing size decreased 7.7 percent quarter on quarter
to 4.26 billion yuan in the fourth quarter of 2008, and 18.3 percent
to 3.48 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2009, due to the joint
effects of a gloomy economic situation and a retreat from the
market's sales peak during the Beijing Olympics.
However, it rebounded 39.9 percent quarter on quarter in the
second quarter of 2009 to 4.87 billion yuan, thanks to the economic
turnaround.
The following Chart Two shows the online marketing size growth
from the second quarter of 2007 to 2009.
Dividing the online marketing channels into search engine
advertising and non-search engine advertising, statistics show that
clients favoured search engine keyword advertising, especially during
economic wobbles, because keyword queries charge advertisers
according to advertising effects. The affordable cost and precise
positioning of search engine ads attracted more advertisers.
The search engine advertisement market size grew 29.9 percent year
on year, while the non-search engine advertisement market size
decreased 7.5 percent in the first half of this year.
Chart Three below shows the market size of search engine and
non-search engine advertising in the first half of 2008 and 2009.
