(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) By Targeted News Service ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 4 -- CenturyLink Intellectual Property, Denver, has been assigned a patent (8,548,152) developed by Jeffrey Leister, Hilliard, Ohio, John Zeigler, Powell, Ohio, and Jennifer Stilgenbauer, Lawrence, Kan., for a "system and method for handling toll free number telephone calls." The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A system and method for processing toll free telephone calls by a telecommunications service provider may include receiving, by the telecommunications service provider, a telephone call request for a telephone call being placed to a toll free telephone number from a telephone within a service area of the telecommunications service provider. The telecommunications service provider may determine that the toll free telephone number is one operated by the telecommunications service provider. The telephone call may be routed via a network of the telecommunications service provider to a telephone associated with the toll free telephone number to connect the telephone call." The patent application was filed on Dec. 12, 2012 (13/712,686).
