Centice Announces the Release of Version 5.5 of its Drug Identification Software with Significant New Additions to the Illicit DatabaseRESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. --(Business Wire)-- Centice Corporation, a pioneer in narcotic and pharmaceutical identification using Raman spectroscopy technology, today announced the release of version 5.5 of its drug identification software, which includes 64 new additions to the Centice Narcotic Library. The new drugs include synthetic phenethylamines (psychotic stimulants), cathinones (bath salts), and synthetic cannabinoids (used to manufacture synthetic marijuana commonly referred to as "spice") as well as new cutting agents and precursors. Based on Raman spectroscopy technology the system rapidly scans any unknown substance or pill and identifies its unique spectral fingerprint, comparing it to a custom library of over 3,800 narcotics, prescription pills, precursors, cutting agents, and synthetic drugs. The technology identifies both prescription pills that are broken, scraped, or crushed as well as mixtures in illicit substances (results are delivered for both the narcotics and the adulterants in the mixture) aiding law enforcement with intelligence-led investigations. New drugs added to the Narcotic Library bring the database to over 200 substances.
