CBP Officers at Brownsville Port of Entry Arrest Man Wanted on Money Laundering Charges


Feb 24, 2009 (DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY DOCUMENTS AND PUBLICATIONS/ContentWorks via COMTEX) -- (Monday, February 23, 2009) Brownsville, Texas -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville port of entry apprehended a man on a warrant from Austin, Texas on money laundering charges.



On February 22, at 9:55 a.m., CBP officers at Brownsville's Veteran's International Bridge referred Fulgencio Loredo Rubio, 41, a Mexican citizen and resident of San Marcos, Texas for a secondary examination. Loredo Rubio arrived at the port of entry as a passenger on a commercial bus. A CBP officer's checks of a CBP database identified Fulgencio Loredo Rubio as the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant from Austin, Texas. Pending charges against Loredo Rubio are for money laundering.

CBP officers arrested Fulgencio Loredo Rubio and subsequently turned him over to the custody of the Cameron County Sheriff's Office. Loredo Rubio was transported to the county jail and is pending extradition to Austin, Texas.
