Care2, hjc, NTEN and The Resource Alliance Release New Report Detailing Non-Profit Strategies and Trends in the Digital Space

Today, Friday, March 24, Care2, hjc, NTEN and The Resource Alliance will release their annual Digital Outlook Report which analyzes nonprofit strategies and trends in the digital space. The report is an essential read for every nonprofit organization, as it provides step-by-step instructions for advancing an organization from Level 1, with no digital program, to Level 2 (basic digital program), to Level 3 (advanced digital program).

The 3rd annual Digital Outlook Report examines organizations working in human rights, international development, local social services, children's charities, animal rescue, emergency relief, education, health, environmental conservation, and many more. Its findings show that 62% of respondents have not yet begun to build out their digital program, while 32% use basic digital programs and only 6% use advanced digital programs. A digital program is defined as having a digital strategy, a staff member dedicated to digital strategy, measurement and tracking of key performance indicators, program analysis, plus having defined their user personas. Only half of all recipients had staff on-hand who were dedicated to digital strategy. The report lays out goals and incorporates detailed case studies to show nonprofits how to achieve an efficient digital strategy tailored to their respective organizations.

"The world of online organizing is ever-changing. As soon as you have found your digital niche, new trends in the space are sure to re-route operations and put you back at square one," said Randy Paynter, CEO of Care2. "It's imperative to elevate organizations working towards important causes to a place where they can reach their highest potential and see their success in numbers. Our report explains how to do just that; how to make strategic changes to get in sync with an increasingly digital audience and constant deviation in the online world."

"This year, after analyzing over 530 survey responses from around the world, we found that the shape, structure, sophistication, and focus of each nonprofit organization's digital program is completely unique," said Mike Johnston (News - Alert), President of hjc. "With this in mind, we couldn't make general pan-sector recommendations that would be appropriate and actionable for every organization. Each organization is simply too unique, with different levels of digital maturity."

"Many organisations are till getting started with digital, and that's okay! Everyone has to start somewhere, so you'll be starting at Level 1 in this report," said Kyla Shawyer, CEO of Resource Alliance. "Others are slightly farther down the digital path, making improvements along the way, advancing to level 2. The final few are bravely uncovering digital best practices and generously sharing your failures and success. Level 3 is for you."

"The report is loaded with actionable ideas for every level," said Amy Sample Ward, CEO of NTEN. "Our goal with this report is to help nonprofits step back, take account of where they are and think about how they should be leveraging the digital to meet their objectives."

Care2's Ryann Miller and hjc's Mike Johnston will be presenting the report on Saturday, March 25th at the 2017 Nonprofit Technology Conference in Washington, D.C.
