Canon U.S.A. Joined With SCORE Foundation To Educate And Support Local BusinessesMELVILLE, N.Y., July 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, in conjunction with the SCORE Foundation, recently hosted an educational workshop for dozens of Long Island and New York City business owners. The event provided essential insight to small business owners on how to effectively start, run and grow their businesses. "We were compelled to host this event in conjunction with the SCORE Foundation as a way to unite with our neighboring businesses, learn from each other and ultimately work towards this goal of supporting the Long Island small business community," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "It is vital that we work together to keep business local and on Long Island." Attendees benefitted from an interactive session entitled "Mentoring in Minutes," where business owners learned from volunteer small business mentors about Marketing, Finance, Start-Ups, General Business and Printing For Your Business. Business owners learned how Canon's line of wireless MAXIFY inkjet printers can help them create compelling and visually impactful marketing material in-house to increase their efficiency. There are currently over 11,000 diverse SCORE volunteers who have owned their own small business, worked for a Fortune 500 company, or are currently retired that are committed to helping small business owners succeed. The event featured a keynote presentation by Carol Roth, a national media personality, New York Times best-selling author, judge of the technology competition series America's Greatest Markets and an on-air contributor for CNBC news. During her speech, she stressed the importance of building relationships and shared tactics for effectively engaging the community and their core demographic of customers. She informed the attendees how this could lead to increased dvertising success. Also speaking at the event was Beth Goldberg, District Director, New York Office Small Business Administration, who provided information on what kind of resources are available to small business owners through the administration to obtain funding for and further develop their business. "Our volunteer SCORE mentors help small business owners find greater success, by sharing their own executive and entrepreneurial experience at no cost. Canon is a great partner for helping to raise awareness of SCORE's free services, and for providing the resources to support small business owners through our signature 'Simple Steps for Starting Your Business' seminar program," said David R. Bobbitt, president of The SCORE Foundation. "Small businesses nationwide, including those on Long Island, are facing a world that is more competitive and complex than ever. Thanks to SCORE and to Canon, small business owners can access world-class help immediately at www.score.org to find a mentor or www.score.org/getstarted to take an educational seminar." The event concluded with a tour of Canon U.S.A.'s product showroom which included an inside look at the MAXIFY line of wireless, high speed, cost-effective inkjet printers.
