[May 16, 2008] Canon Showcases Technical Document Solutions at IRgA Tweet (Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) At the International Reprographics Association (IRgA) Annual Convention, Canon U.S.A. showcased its line of printers specifically geared toward the CAD (Computer Aided Design), AEC (Architectural, Engineering and Construction), GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and other technical documents markets. The company also previewed a new high-end 44-inch imagePROGRAF large format printer. In the past two years, Canon noted, it has expanded its presence in the technical documents market with a comprehensive line of printers and printing solutions. Products on display at IRgA include Canon s imagePROGRAF iPF720, iPF605 and iPF8000S large format printers, as well as the imagePRESS C1 digital press. The large format and production printing markets have been growing tremendously over the past several years, especially in the technical documents markets, said Tod Pike, senior vice president and general manager, Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. Canon has been a major part of that growth with its imagePROGRAF and imagePRESS offerings, and we expect to continue to be a leading innovator in the market, as evidenced by the imagePROGRAF printer being previewed here at the show this week. Stating that it is demonstrating its commitment to future advancement of its imagePROGRAF large format product line, Canon also provided show attendees with a preview of a new 44-inch high-end imagePROGRAF model scheduled for availability later this year. The prototype imagePROGRAF color production system on display will be running a dual-roll configuration, equipped with two different size rolls and the ability to print two full-density A1-sized (23.4-inch X 33.1-inch) plots in less than a minute. Specifically designed to fit the needs of the high-volume technical drawing printing market, the printer will be equipped with high-capacity ink cartridges for minimal user intervention.
