Call for cohesive map data network
Apr 12, 2012 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
The Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) claims that a spatial guidance framework should apply to public sector activities Australia-wide. SIBA is putting its argument forward as part of a review of the planning regime of New South Wales. It contends that a thorough, nationwide spatial data network is vital to most aspects of government. The Queensland floods in 2010 drew attention to inadequacies in flood mapping, but SIBA argues that a variety of government policies and activities would benefit from enhanced spatial data.
