California Water Issues Take Center Stage at UCLA Extension Land Use Law & Planning Conference Jan. 30 at Millennium Biltmore Hotel

John Laird, Secretary of the California Natural Resources Agency, will address the drought, water bond and climate change at UCLA Extension's Land Use Law & Planning Conference on January 30, 2015.

Laird has made climate change adaptation, water conservation and supply reliability, enhanced relationships with tribal governments, state parks access, farmland conservation and oceans sustainability among other issues top priorities. He provides administrative oversight to thirty departments, commissions, councils, museums, boards and conservancies - and is a sitting member of sixteen conservancies, councils, boards and commissions within the purview of the Agency. Laird was appointed in 2011 by Governor Jerry Brown.

Now in its 29^th year, the conference is the leading source of information on California land use legislation, case law and emerging issues. The one-day event provides a comprehensive overview of updates and trends affecting land use and development practices for attorneys, planners, developers, city officials and environmentalists.

This year's provocative panels include:
