Calhoun robotics partner recognized for effectiveness
(The Decatur Daily (AL) (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jun. 12--MONTGOMERY -- The state workforce preparation agency that will be a partner with Calhoun Community College on its new robotics complex has received recognition for its effectiveness.
Alabama Industrial Development Training will work with Calhoun on design and development of the Advanced Robotics Training and Demonstration Complex, Gov. Bob Riley announced Monday.
AIDT received recognition from SRI Quality System Registrar auditors who analyze how well organizations link their business objectives with the effectiveness of their operations.
Riley said the recognition underscores "how successful our worker training program is." He said he considers the recognition an asset to the state in attracting industry to the area.
In 2005, Alabama Industrial Development Training became the first state workforce training program in the country to receive the recognition. Riley said the program remains the only workforce training program in the United States to earn the certification.
SRI recognized the state training program for the quality of its development and delivery of pre-employment training and on-the-job training.
SRI is internationally accredited as a registrar noted for assessing how well organizations comply with quality management systems standards.
AIDT communications Director Phyllis Wesley said the certification is a measure of how well the agency manages and follows through with training program planning and implementation.
ISO 9001:2000 certification recognizes organizations that link business objectives with operating effectiveness.
Its network of institutes in 146 countries created 15,000 international quality and environmental management standards for business, government and society organizations around the world.
